To benefit from the course, you must be able to work independently and be comfortable with using a computer.

The online driver improvement course and final test must be completed through a DMV-licensed online driver improvement clinic. No paper test is permitted.

The online driver improvement clinic course is an eight-hour course, including the final test, and is designed to rehabilitate problem drivers. The course must be completed in its entirety prior to the issuance of a certificate of completion.

Student identification will be verified throughout training and prior to taking the final test to ensure that the person taking the course is the same person taking the final test.

At enrollment you choose a security question and give an answer, and you provide your date of birth and license number. During the course you are asked for one of these before each lesson, after each hour of study, before each knowledge check, and before the final test. Three failed checks pause your course until the school confirms your identity.

Enroll on this website, pay the course fee, and you receive a link and a login for the course. Lessons are taken in order, online, on a phone, tablet, or computer. Each lesson has a minimum time set by the Commonwealth, and the timer runs only while you are active in the lesson, so you cannot finish faster than the required length.

Each lesson ends with a knowledge check that you must answer correctly before the next lesson opens. Once every lesson is done and your credited time meets the minimum for the course, the final test unlocks.

The final test is taken online. Questions are drawn at random from a bank and the answer choices are shuffled. If you do not pass, you may try again on the next business day.

Customers directed by the Court must provide documentation from the court before safe driving points can be awarded.

The certificate of completion will be electronically transmitted to all individuals upon successful completion of the course within 24 hours.

The DMV standardized certificate, “Online Driver Improvement Clinic Certificate of Completion (DIC 552B)”, is the only document that will be accepted by the Department and the Courts as proof of completion of an online driver improvement clinic.

If the certificate is presented to DMV, it must be printed on 8 1/2 x 11 plain white bonded paper. DMV will not accept certificates printed on color or special designed paper or paper with any form of advertisement on the front or back of the certificate. DMV will not accept any certificates that have been altered in any way.
